  One Miracle in my life

  a while back there were some postings asking if miracles still happen today, so i thought this latest story from my life would be appropriate.. my husband's friend from work lost his father to cancer, shortly after that he lost his wife, also to cancer.

  a few months ago his teenage son was diagnosed with bone cancer and not given a very good chance of survival.. i don't know this man, only met him once, and i never met his son.

  but something inside me just made me so angry, and my heart so heavy -this could not happen.

  I'm not talking about Tabloid reports...I'm referring to respected weekly U.S. magazines like TIME and NEWSWEEK. They've done cover stories on the "power" of prayer. In other words, they report that some doctors notice that patients who are prayed over (whatever religion) have a higher rate of recovery. Whatever they attribute it to - God, positive thinking, whatever...they say in their opinion there is a POWER in prayer.

  Proof of the "historical" Jesus...

  been wondering about this lately.... what proof (outside the bible, of course) do we have for the "historical jesus"?.

  in my earlier days (post jw to "born again christian") i remember reading that the one thing that differentiates christianity vs. "all the others" was that we had secular historical proof that there was a man that was called jesus, who died on a cross and was resurrected.

  now i am wondering just what that proof is/was?

  Classless American Behavior

  i was watching the hockey game yesterday and i thought i heard 'booing' during canada's national anthem.

  earlier in the week the same thing occurred during the raptor's playoff game.. as some are aware canada has been mourning and burying their 4 dead soldiers due to the incompetence of an american fighter pilot who dropped a bomb on them while they were carrying out training exercises.

  flags are flying at half-mast as canadians try to make sense of such a careless mistake.. i find it hard to believe any civilized person would show such disrespect to another country to 'boo' them during their national anthem at any time, and more so during a time of mourning because of death caused directly by american hands.. i sincerely hope american media chastised their countrymen who showed such insensitive, classless, ignorant and disrespectful behavior to their neighbours.

  Oh get off your high horse, who was questioning your patriotism (not me). And as far as the Canadians..I LOVE THEM. I have some cousins that were born and raised in Alberta. I remember years ago when the Iranians "students" took some our citizens hostage, the Canadian embassey hid some of our countrymen and got them secretly out of the country (to the dismay of those terrorists). We as a country couldn't thank them enough and proudly showed it. So to those very few "Americans" who booed a TRUE FRIEND'S anthem, grow up and show some respect, they deserve nothing less.

  I swear if I have to listen to God Bless America, or Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, or the Star Spangled Banner, any time soon, I'm going to read a Watchtower....

  So....go read a Watchtower. Obviously you didn't lose anyone, so it doesn't mean anything to you...so SCREW YOU and go read your WT.

  More advice: Stock options

  my new job is setting aside 15% of their shares for employee stock options, to be distributed equally per employee (excluding ceo's) i am the first employee.

  they plan on selling this company in 2 years for $100,000,000.00 so 15% of that is 15 million.

  there will be 30 employees at most at that time.

  the above is just an example. The missing element in the equation is what the price of the stock is on the date you're granted the stock. Options are the right, but not the obligation to purchase stock at a set price.

  It means they'll set aside $15mm paper dollars to be distributed to the employees... you still have to "buy" the shares (no out of pocket money though)

  Let's say you get 1000 shares of the stock at the purchase price of $10/share (which equals $10,000 - they give that to you on paper). After 2 years the stock price is now $25/share. Your 1,000 shares are now worth $25,000...If you decided to "cash" in your option, you would have to "pay" for the 1,000 shares at the original price of $10,000. So it would be $25,000 minus $10,000...you would end up with $15,000.

  Just read the script for Star Wars Episode 2

  last year when i read the script for episode 1 months before it was released i was like nah..this cant be the real script.

  and then i saw the movie and it went exactly as scripted.

  so yeah, from what i read this one is very political, very confusing but very cool also.. *****spoilers ahead***************.

  got this one today.... i got this from a sister in our hall, it show's when we have that gut feeling to go back to a door we were just at to follow that feeling!

  i hope you enjoy it.

  we enjoyed this experience and you will probably enjoy it as well.

  I've heard similar stories from other Christian religions and read "miracle" stories in a Christian magazine called GUIDEPOSTS. I think God uses many people in various way. The irony mentioned above is interesting though. At first when the story was being related, I though they were going to say it was the JW elder that was keeping her from getting treatment.

  for a privileged few, you get an article with your lifes story published in the wt.

  most at least receive a grand send off with a kh memorial service.. my father passed away a couple of weeks ago.

  he was just shy of his 89th birthday.

  Sorry to hear about the passing of your father, my condolences. It's tough to lose our parents - my father passed on a few years ago, we were very close and I miss him everyday. Personally, I have a very strong belief that life is eternal and that where we are now is just a small portion of that greater life. It sounds like your father "ran the good race" as he understood it and IMHO he now has most, if not all the answers to most of the questions raised on this board as well as a wonderful reunion with your daughter.
